Dana Jones, MSW, LSW

About Me

Dana is pretty laid back and chill, but she does tend to get pretty excited about her dog, Sydney and food. Maybe this is one of the reasons why she worked at an ice cream and cupcake shop all throughout high school! When she is not trying new foods, she might be hiking, watching scary movies, or cuddling with her pup. Dana brings both her sense of adventure and calmness into the therapy room, because especially working with teens, both are oh so necessary!!

AGES SEEN

Dana enjoys working with ages 12-18.

Dana will work with all ages but enjoys teens the most because they are able to have very serious conversations, but still laugh and make therapy fun. She also enjoys getting to see the increase that therapy can have in their self esteem, communication, and self awareness.  Dana hopes that through rapport building she can create a space where kids can express their emotions in a healthy way and not feel judged.

PHILOSOPHY

Dana sees herself as an extra support for kids to help cheer them on and support them. She knows that when working with some clients it might take awhile to build that trust with them and for them to start trusting the therapeutic process, and that is OK and expected!

Dane believes that in order to see progress the whole family needs to be open to trying new techniques and having difficult conversations. A parent’s role is one of the most influential roles in the child’s therapy and the child’s progress.

Dana helps kids and families reach lasting changes by allowing everyone to have a space to speak freely and not feel judged or silenced. She also works with a client/family to find a tool or technique that is personalized and works best for their lifestyle. Dana wants to find long term solutions that they can continue to use when they are out of therapy.

Education & Experience

Dana is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She received both her Bachelors and Masters of Social Work from Indiana State University. She also has a minor in psychology. Throughout her schooling, her child welfare class had the most resounding effect. Dana was able to see the impact that an environment can have on the rest of an individual’s life. She learned to see how every interaction, every family member, and every event can have an impact on an individual.
