Tich Allen, MA

About Me

Tich has worked with kids for a while from being a YMCA camp counselor as a teen to her undergrad as a recreational therapist. She has found that she loves working with kids as they are energetic, spontaneous, and playful. One of the things that Tich loves to do is research and find the best intervention or activity to do with her clients in session and incorporate THEIR interests into these interventions!

Most days you will find Tich (pronounced Tish) being fueled by a Grande Vanilla Latte with two extra pumps of vanilla while she is working. When she has some much-coveted downtime, she loves to relax, go for a walk, binge-watch Netflix series, and watch movies with her boyfriend.

A’Lil Bit More Info

AGES SEEN

Tich loves how energetic, creative, and outspoken kids can be!  She is open to seeing all ages, but especially likes working with ages 6-12. She is pretty open to working with most issues as well, but in her words, she “likes a challenge!”

Tich is finding she really likes working with anger and mood dysregulation.  She likes helping kids and parents learn how to regulate their emotions and she LOVES to make an anger iceberg to identify what is going on underneath the surface of those feelings.
Tich also has experience teaching social skills and anxiety management techniques.

PHILOSOPHY

Tich works to help children learn how to express emotions in appropriate ways and use healthy coping skills and social skills. She hopes that by helping when they are young that she is able to equip them with the skills and tools they need to growth and handle the things life throws their way!

Tich tries to help kids and families reach lasting change by providing support and empowerment.  She loves to work with parents to help them co-regulate their child. She believes in working closely with parents to support and empower them as well as their child as she believes parents play a vital role in the therapy process. Tich works with parents to help them model and coach their child whether it is with coping skills, anger management, or positive communication.

Q & A TIME

If you could give parents one piece of advice, what would it be?

To remind parents that no parent is perfect and every parent has their mishaps. Also, it is important to be an active listener in your child’s life because your child looks to you for acceptance and understanding.

What is a quote, motto, mantra, saying, etc that has meaning to you personally?

“It’s okay, not to be okay” because many people believe that it is not okay to suffer or struggle. In reality, we all face hardship but obtaining a positive outlook on life it makes our pain a little bit easier to manage.

Tell me about your most ideal client?

My most ideal client would be Zendaya (maybe she could could give me fashion tips…only kidding). But honestly, my most ideal client would be someone who is willing to participate and work to achieve their goals despite potential road blocks.

Education & Experience
