Natalie Deputy, MSW, LSW

About Me

I would describe myself as energetic, passionate, empathetic, and a little bit weird (but in a cool way). I have a shih-tzu named Gus who absolutely rules my life and I’m convinced he has no idea he’s not human. I also have 2 hermit crabs and am quite attached to my little nocturnal crustacean friends! When I’m not working you might find me playing either animal crossing or dreamlight valley on the Switch while wearing fuzzy socks, cuddling my dog, and drinking a cold diet coke or outside gardening!

I did a lot of arts and crafts as a kid and as a therapist I still love incorporating anything artsy into sessions! I love a good expressive therapeutic modality such as art, narrative, and experiential.

AGES SEEN

Natalie loves working with youth of all ages, but is a big fan of working with teenagers…the angstier the better. Being a teenager is a frustrating time trying to move from being a child to being treated like an adult, but without having the same control and freedom as an adult. Natalie enjoys creating a safe space where they can feel their feelings, express themselves, and build self-esteem.

Natalie’s most ideal client  is anyone who is willing to show up and have an open-mind. Clients are not always thrilled to start therapy, but if they are willing to give it a shot then we can make meaningful changes and have fun doing it!

PHILOSOPHY

Natalie strives to create strong and trusting relationships with both kids and their families as part of a solid foundation for therapy. She works with kids and families on enhancing communication, learning and implementing healthy coping skills and strategies, and empowering them to take what is learned throughout the therapeutic process and feel confident using those tools outside of the office.

Natalie also believes parents are crucial partners in the therapeutic process and like to take a collaborative approach to meeting the unique needs of each client and their family.

Q & A TIME

If you could give parents one piece of advice, what would it be?

My one piece of advice for parents would be to give yourself grace. Not only does treating yourself with compassion help you to be a more effective parent, but it also models to your kids that it is okay to make mistakes and learn from them. We do the best we can with the information available to us at the time. When we know better, then we can do better.

What is a quote, motto, mantra, saying, etc that has meaning to you personally?

“Be so completely you that others feel safe to be themselves too.”

What excites you about working with kids?

Kids are so creative, authentic, and unfiltered which makes the therapeutic process so rewarding.

Education & Experience

Natalie has her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s in Social Work. Graduate school was one of her absolute favorite chapters of her life so far and solidified that being a therapist is exactly what she was meant to be! Natalie is a complete nerd and enjoyed all of her classes that related to mental health/psychology/social work, but one of her favorite classes was social policy classes.
