Brie Leppert, MHC Student Therapist

About Me

Hi! I’m Brie, a student therapist who enjoys working with children, preteens, and teens. I would describe myself as quirky, loving, and warm. My friends would probably add bubbly and clumsy to that list! I love connecting with people, laughing, and creating a space where clients can feel comfortable being themselves.

Outside of therapy, I love writing, listening to music, cleaning, spending time with friends, and hanging out with my pets. I have four cats—Ralphie, Remy, Riley, and Rex—and a dog named Bruno

 AGES SEEN

I work with children, preteens, and teens, and I know that each age can bring a different set of worries, questions, and growing pains. Younger clients may still be figuring out what they feel, how to say it, and where they fit in their world. Older kids and teens may have plenty going on inside but struggle to put it into words.

I especially enjoy working with neurodivergent clients. I work to help clients slow things down, make sense of what is on their mind, and find a way to express themselves that feels natural. Over time, I want them to recognize that they have a voice and feel more confident using it. It is powerful to teach a skill and later see a client use it in another part of life, especially when something that once felt overwhelming starts to feel more manageable.

PHILOSOPHY

One idea that has a lot of meaning to me is, “Two things can be true at once.” I believe therapy can create space for complicated feelings and help kids feel less stuck in them. I try to meet clients where they are and help them explore what feels confusing, overwhelming, or difficult to put into words with warmth and curiosity.

I draw from CBT, and creative approaches including music and art. I want therapy to fit the client in front of me, because every child communicates and connects differently. Parents also play an important role in the process. I believe it helps when caregivers understand what their child is learning and why it matters. By meeting families where they are and equipping them at home, we give new skills a better chance of lasting beyond the therapy room.

Student Therapist Brie Leppert

Education & Experience

Brie is currently completing her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling at Butler University. She previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University. She is a student therapist actively developing her skills under clinical supervision while providing therapy to real clients.

Before beginning her clinical training as a student therapist, Brie spent several years working with children with autism in therapeutic and educational settings. Her experience has included helping children build school-readiness skills, communication, daily living skills, and greater independence through individualized support. She has also worked as a Registered Behavior Technician, assistant teacher, and swim instructor, giving her experience connecting with children across different ages, needs, and environments.

Throughout her education, one lesson has continued to stand out: not everyone is the same. Children and teens are still figuring out who they are, their role in their environment, their feelings, and how to advocate and communicate effectively. Brie values continuing to learn and embraces the lessons that come with being in training.
