We welcome those who are active students enrolled in an accredited Master’s Degree program in counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy. However,  we ONLY  take LMHCA/LMFTA Internship Students or MSW Practicum II students. You must have completed a placement that included providing clinical counseling/therapy services as your first placement due to the high clinical nature of our placement site. 

This would be a good fit for you if you believe that you would like to work with kids or teens in your career. Our site offers the experiences of individual and family therapy, group therapy, as well as networking.

About The Placement:

We work with local and national schools to be a practicum or internship placement to provide therapy for children, teens, and their families. Master’s level students who choose to do their placement with us enjoy the clinical nature of our placement. There is a heavy emphasis on providing individual, family and group counseling. There is the oppurtunity to share ideas and concepts you would like to shape into your unqiue learning experiences with us. 

 

 Hours:

  • We are able to accommodate a variety of schedules including mornings, afternoon, and evening. We cannot accommodate weekend placements at this time. We schedule our therapists in rooms in blocks from 8a-2p or 2p-8p. 
  • Wednesday weekly team meetings & Thursday lunch and learns
  • Weekly supervision

Required Skills:

  • You must have completed basic counseling courses before being accepted into our program; it is REQUIRED that you have completed & passed your diagnostic class.
  • Self directed, motivated, hard working, and reliable
  • Passionate about working with children and their families
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback immediately
  • Good time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to proficiently navigate electronic systems such as computers, tablets, email, word processing, and electronic medical record systems

Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site excellent, effective, compassionate, and ethical psychotherapy services to the clients of Indy Child Therapist, LLC as scheduled in accordance with company policy.
    • Utilize evidenced based treatments as primary clinical tool
  • Plan, develop and execute a group curriculum
  • Arrive a minimum of 10 minutes before your first scheduled appointment and start/end sessions in a timely manner.
  • Complete all written documentation for client records within 2 calendar days after date of service (recommended to be completed daily).
    • This includes but is not limited to intakes, session notes, treatment plans, coding, and billing
  • Engage with other team members, clients, parents, vendors, and outside referrals in a way that helps foster positive relationships.
  • Respond to clients’ requests for service or calls within 24 hours whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, text, or by email.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate calendars and client records within electronic health record (EHR)
  • Secure client information per HIPAA standards.
  • Attend mandatory supervision, meetings, and/or trainings as directed by Indy Child Therapist, LLC.
  • Conduct and regulate counseling services in a professional manner so as to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Indy Child Therapist, LLC.
  • Be respectful to, cooperate, and collaborate with all co-workers.
  • Communicate with other health care and education professionals regularly and as requested or necessary for excellent clinical client care.
  • Abiding by the Company Policy and Procedures Manual as updated by Company.

  • This is NOT a paid internship or practicum.
