Katy Borland, MSW, LCSW

About Me

Hi! I’m Katy. I’m a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and Autism.

You’ll probably notice I sometimes have colorful hair; I like self-expression and change. Outside of work, I’m usually playing video games like Minecraft or Stardew Valley, deep into a board game strategy, or watching Survivor. I’ve always gravitated toward worlds with structure, creativity, and problem-solving.

I started working with kids as a summer camp counselor,  leading games, solving group conflicts, and learning quickly that kids are incredibly perceptive. Camp sparked my love of creating spaces where kids can experiment, problem-solve, and feel safe being themselves.

AGES SEEN

Katy enjoys working with children ages 5–12 the most, but she also has extensive experience working with teenagers up to age 18. Katy is especially well-suited for thoughtful, sensitive, or neurodivergent kids who benefit from a calm, structured approach. Younger children often respond well to her predictable style and clear guidance. With teens, she values direct conversation and helping them make sense of anxiety, identity, and independence without pressure or judgment.

Katy often focuses on emotional regulation, executive functioning, and self-understanding rather than “fixing” differences. She loves supporting kids navigating big changes and complicated emotions, helping them name feelings and build stability during transitions. Across all ages and issues, Katy focuses on helping kids understand what’s happening in their body and brain while building practical tools they can use outside of session.

PHILOSOPHY

Katy believes kids do better when the adults around them are steady, clear, and consistent. Big emotions don’t need bigger reactions,  they need understanding and structure.

Katy’s approach balances structure with flexibility. There is a plan, but it’s adjusted based on each child’s developmental level, interests, and nervous system needs.

Katy also believes parents are a critical part of lasting change.  Children often look to the adults in their lives to learn how to understand themselves and their challenges, which is why Katy values collaboration with caregivers throughout the therapy process. She works with kids and families to build on existing strengths, support growth over time, and create meaningful, lasting change
