About Me
My favorite way to spend a weeknight is taking my two german shepherds to the dog park or relaxing on the couch with my boyfriend catching up on reality tv! When I am adulting, you can find me with my tried and true Starbucks order of an iced coffee with 3 pumps of sugar free vanilla & cream!
My first job was working at an Autism center and this is where I found my love for working with kids and for social work! My clients find me to be empathetic and caring While I have my Bachelor’s in Special Education, I found that I much prefer working with clients 1:1 than in large groups!

AGES SEEN
Sydney works with ages 6-18. She enjoys working with a variety of ages because young kids are very honest and this often leads to them telling you how they feel. With teens, they need a positive support person and specifically, an adult they will receive feedback from, and she strives to be both for them (and let’s be honest its just hilarious to see what comes outta their mouths sometimes!)
Overall what excites Sydney the most about working with kids is the bond that she can create with them and through this, helping them overcome the challenges they are facing. She does this by being compassionate and showing that she is really listening to a client. Sometimes all someone needs is to just be heard.
PHILOSOPHY
I want to create a safe place for not only my clients but their families as well. Rapport building is a HUGE part of my approach to therapy. I believe that when you build a strong connection with a client that then creates a safe space for them to be open and honest about their feelings and lead to big accomplishments. I also value the collaboration and input that parents bring. Having families involved with their child’s mental health can create greater communication skills between a child and their parents. I also feel that it is important to have families involved to help strategize and resolve conflict in a healthy manner. My hope is that families will take these skills and use them outside of the therapy room and in the future as well.
Q & A TIME
What is a quote or saying that has meaning to you personally?
What is meant for you will find you. Always – this saying is important to me because in life opportunities, relationships, experiences are meant to come into your life for a reason. It gives a sense of acceptance and patience in life that what is happening will grow you or show you a different path. Take signs in life for what they are and use them to your advantage.
What’s a common myth about therapy that you wish more people understood?
Not everyone who wants therapy is in a deep dark mental state. The truth is, therapy is helpful to most anyone and everyone. Therapy provides a safe space to talk about things you may not be able to with friends, partners or family members.
If you had a superpower that could help you in therapy, what would it be?
As much as I would like to say being a mind reader, what I would really want is to have a healing touch. I would love to be able to radiate or produce a healing potion that would connect to someone’s soul and allow them to release whatever negative energy is in them and let it out and be free of it!
Education & Experience
Sydney received her Bachelor of Science in Special Education and then her Master of Social Work. Her favorite class in college was abnormal psychology. She loved learning about the different diagnoses and the therapeutic techniques and approaches that worked best for them. This class led to her becoming more interested in social work and ultimately going this direction with her career. Her long term goals are to finish her supervision hours for her LCSW and continue to work with children and teens. She hopes to expand on trainings and receive more certifications to expand her knowledge with therapy approaches!
