Cassie Yohler, MSW Student

About Me

Hi, I’m Cassie! I am a compassionate and creative therapist who loves working with children and teens. I believe in building strong connections through fun, engaging therapy that helps kids feel comfortable and open. I love spending time outdoors, especially taking my dog, Pepper, a border collie mix, on walks and exploring new trails. I also enjoy cooking, thrifting for unique finds (where most of my outfits are from), and listening to girly podcasts. I have a soft spot for family traditions—on Wednesdays, I host a weekly dinner with my siblings, parents, and grandpa to stay connected. When I’m not working, you’ll find me binge-watching TV shows with my partner or attempting to learn guitar!

AGES SEEN

Cassie works primarily with children and teens, particularly those in early elementary school, where she helps build emotional regulation, social skills, and coping mechanisms. She has experience working with children who have ADHD, Autism, anxiety, and various behavioral challenges. Cassie is passionate about helping kids navigate their emotions and peer relationships in a way that feels natural and empowering. She also focuses on fostering resilience and promoting positive behavior change through individualized, hands-on interventions.

PHILOSOPHY

Cassie’s therapeutic approach is rooted in creating a safe and welcoming environment where kids can express themselves and develop essential skills for emotional and social growth. Cassie uses cognitive behavioral therapy and play centered modalities. She also likes to utilize psychoeducation to help kiddos learn more about their brains and diagnoses in a kid-friendly but scientific way.
Cassie believes that parents play an integral role in their child’s mental health journey. By being actively involved—asking questions, engaging in play, and supporting therapy goals—parents can help reinforce positive change at home and ensure lasting growth.

Q & A TIME

How would others describe you?

People would describe me as dependable, hard-working and funny due to my work ethic and positive personality.

What is a quote, motto, mantra, saying, etc that has meaning to you personally?

The mantra that I like to be reminded of is “progress not perfection”. In both my everyday life and my professional life as a masters student, I strive to be present in my work and recognize my progress and learning as important and worthy. It is hard to not let the ideal of perfection limit you from recognizing the growth that you have made but it is an important idea to unpack!

What excites you about working with kids?

What excites me the most about working with kids is being able to see their progression and growth towards their goals. Whether it is implementing a coping skill independently when frustrated or vocalizing to their teacher that they need a break, seeing kids create new healthy strategies for themselves is empowering. I also love children’s inherent curious energy and ability to grasp at new ideas and feelings with an open mind!

Education & Experience

Cassie has her Bachelor’s in Psychology and is getting her Master’s in Social Work. Some classes that she has enjoyed are psychopathology, body image, and neuroscience courses. She enjoyed completing her final body image research on disordered eating patterns and student athletic involvement. Cassie has enjoyed learning more about behavior modifications and intervention strategies because they have the ability to be translated to each individual client and specifically tailored to meet each client’s behavioral and attention needs.
