Ryan Creevy, MS, LMHCA

About Me

Hi, I'm Ryan! I would describe myself as caring, engaged, direct, and just sarcastic enough to keep things interesting. Outside of the therapy room, you'll usually find me watching a movie at the theater, listening to music, going to concerts, playing or watching basketball, hiking, or spending time with my wife and our two cats. I also enjoy trying new restaurants, cooking at home, and exploring state parks whenever I get the chance.

One thing that has always stayed with me is my love for nature. Growing up, I spent countless hours hiking through the woods with my dad and eventually found myself returning to those same trails on my own. Looking back, I realize that quietly sitting by a stream was my first experience with mindfulness, and it continues to influence both my personal life and the way I approach therapy today.

AGES SEEN

While I enjoy working with children of all ages, I especially enjoy working with preteens and teenagers as they begin discovering who they are and who they want to become. This stage of life is full of change, uncertainty, and growth. I enjoy helping kids navigate those transitions while recognizing the strengths they already have.

Regardless of age, I also enjoy incorporating each child's interests into therapy whenever possible. Kids open up in different ways, and I love finding creative ways to connect that make therapy feel engaging and meaningful. Whether we're working through anxiety, behavioral challenges, emotional regulation, or simply learning new ways to approach difficult situations, I believe even small moments of growth can have a lasting impact.

PHILOSOPHY

I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while also incorporating mindfulness and somatic approaches. I enjoy helping kids better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and bodies so they can develop practical skills that carry over into everyday life.

I believe lasting change happens when children and families work together toward shared goals. My goal is to create a space where kids feel comfortable being themselves while helping parents better understand what their child is experiencing. Together, we can build practical coping skills, strengthen communication, and create meaningful change that extends well beyond the therapy office.

Education & Experience

Ryan holds his Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is an LMHCA. During his studies, he deepened his knowledge of neurodivergent individuals and the brain, with particular focus on somatic-based DBT and trauma. Since graduating, he completed ASIST training, a suicide intervention and prevention program, which has been invaluable in recognizing warning signs and supporting individuals in crisis.

Ryan's clinical approach combines DBT and CBT skills with somatic and body-focused work. He is passionate about integrating evidence-based practices with creativity and genuine connection, and continues to grow by learning more about Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and other trauma-informed approaches.
