Play Therapist

Play Therapist

Full Time Position (will consider part time for fully licensed therapist only)

This position is a strong fit for a clinician who genuinely loves working with elementary-aged children and uses evidence-based, play-based approaches to support emotional, behavioral, and relational growth. The primary client population will be younger children presenting with mood, anxiety, attachment, and behavioral concerns.

Therapists in this role view parents and caregivers as active partners in treatment and understand that meaningful change happens both inside and outside the therapy room. This includes regular caregiver collaboration, parent coaching, and intentionally translating in-session work into strategies families can use at home.

The right clinician for this position is comfortable moving fluidly between child-centered play, directive play-based interventions, and caregiver involvement, and understands how to tailor approaches to a child’s developmental and relational needs. Preference will be given to clinicians who are trained in Theraplay or who are motivated to pursue additional training in attachment-based and parent-involved models.

If you can say YES to these, we would love to talk:

• You hold a Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy
• You hold an active, unrestricted Indiana license (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT, or LMHC). Prelicensed clinicians will be considered only with relevant play therapy training and experience
• You are available 30–40 hours per week, including afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend hours
• You believe excellent, evidence-based clinical care is essential
• You enjoy bringing warmth, creativity, and intentionality into your work
• You value collaboration and contributing to a supportive team environment
• You believe parents and caregivers play a critical role in a child’s progress and are comfortable engaging them regularly in treatment
• You are confident coaching caregivers and providing guidance that supports carryover outside of sessions
• You demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism
• You want to be invested in both your own growth and the success of the practice
• You are committed to ongoing learning, training, and clinical development
• You have experience working clinically with children
• You are trained in play-based interventions that are structured, intentional, and developmentally informed
• You practice from an attachment-based lens and value parent involvement as central to lasting change

This is NOT the position for you if you:

• Prefer to work primarily with children without involving caregivers in treatment
• Are uncomfortable providing parent coaching or guidance
• Prefer a non-directive approach as your sole or primary intervention style
• Do not enjoy working with children or their caregivers
• Prefer to work independently without collaboration or team involvement
• Want to clock in, clock out, and practice with minimal engagement
• Struggle to engage children or build rapport
• Lack training or awareness of effective interventions for ADHD
• Are not open to feedback or ongoing growth
• Have difficulty utilizing peer support and supervision
• Are planning to open your own private practice in the near future
